Since its inception in 1998 we have worked diligently to preserve the beautiful folk culture of Mexico as well as educate audiences worldwide to the splendor that is Mexican folk dance. It is our goal to cultivate the diffusion of traditional and contemporary Mexican folk art and present these pieces to audiences everywhere. The goal of our school is to educate students interested in Mexican folklore, teach the fundamentals of dance and train students to become performing artist. I.M.B.A serves as Sacramento 's premier Mexican folk dance company and offers classes for all ages and levels additionally our institute serves to educate students from all different backgrounds.

Students do not need prior dance experience to become part of our school; I.M.B.A offers classes for all ages and levels. I.M.B.A is among the largest professionally staffed ballet folklorico schools on the West Coast. Our faculty have impressive performance backgrounds and have danced with many of the most prestigious companies in the Mexico, including Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, La Universidad de Guadalajara, La Universidad de Colima, Instituto National de Bellas Artes (Campeche), and Sacramento Ballet to name a few.

General Director Yolanda Colosio has carefully guided the artistic and administrative development of the School into a fully professional school of dance. Under her hand, I.M.B.A maintains successful pre-professional and apprentice programs that provide the caliber of training, technique, style, and environment needed for the most talented students to enter the world of Mexican folk dance.
