Performing Company:

Instituto Mazatlan Bellas Artes de Sacramento's (IMBA) Performing Company has been in existence since 1994 and has produced many events in collaboration with the IMBA's institute of dance and music. IMBA's company has performed at and headlined many of California 's fairs and festivals including California State Fair Sacramento, El Dorado County Fair, Glenne County Fair, Galt Fair, Dixon May Fair, Santa Rosa County Fair, and Festival de la Familia. We have also performed for such major artist as Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Pablo Montero, Nydia Rojas, and Geraldo Fernandez. Our company became internationally recognized In 2000 when we performed in Xalapa Veracruz for "Festival de Folklore " hosted by world-renowned Ballet Folclorico de la Universidad Veracruzana additionally in 2005 we won an international folkloric dance competition "Escencia de Mexico" in Los Angeles California co-hosted by the world famous (ACADEZ) Academy of Dance, Amailia Hernandez (Mexico City).In 2005 we also had the distinct honor of representing Mexico in Beijing's International Cultural Tourism Festival in Beijing and Jinzhou City, China. IMBA has also been invited in 2006 to participate in the Gran Competencia in Dallas Texas to perform as one of the headline companies during the Folklorico Festival. In addition, IMBA has been chosen to present at the prestigious SF Ethnic Dance Festival at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco , California.

As an organization, IMBA is lead by general director Yolanda Colosio, (entrepreneur) co-owner of Estadio Azteca (indoor soccer stadium) in Sacramento . Mrs. Colosio has an extensive history in business and has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work with local charitable organizations such as Festival de la Familia, Comite Patrotico de Sacramento and Sacramento Mexican Cultural Center to name a few. IMBA's Artistic staff is lead by Steven Valencia, a Correctional Counselor for the California Youth Authority (CYA), his work with at risk youth lead him to CYA where he continues treatment with youthful offenders often forgotten by society. Additionally Mr. Valencia has an extensive dance history including dancing professionally in Mexico as well as the U.S having worked with top choreographers in both countries. Working with Mr. Valencia , is Maestro Zenon Barron (Choreographer), Mr. Barron is internationally known as a master in Ballet Folklorico and has had his work shown throughout the world. His impressive biography includes dancing with Ballet Folklorico de Mexico of Mexico City and La Universidad de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. His choreographies have won him numerous awards including recognition from World Arts West of San Francisco as well as local and state governments and private and public foundations. A solid informative and well-educated board of directors, which include the following, governs IMBA:
